There’s nothing quite like Labor Day weekend at Lake Lotawana, Missouri. It’s one of those weekends that perfectly captures why so many of us love the Lotawana lifestyle—boats on the water, neighbors getting together, live music and one more long summer weekend at the lake.

This year, Labor Day weekend kicked off in a big way with Jammy Buffet returning to Lake Lotawana on Friday, September 4 for a Lotawana Live concert at Missouri Yacht Club.

Jammy Buffet Returns to Lake Lotawana 🌴🎶

If there was ever a band made for a lake concert, this might be it.

Jammy Buffet brought the Jimmy Buffett-inspired island vibe back to Lake Lotawana after becoming a favorite during the 2025 Lotawana Live season. Last year's performance was held at the S-17 Dock, and the band returned this year for the Labor Day weekend show at Missouri Yacht Club.

Guests could enjoy the concert from the water or the clubhouse side, making it a true Lake Lotawana-style concert experience.

Even better, the night wasn't just about music. Lotawana Live is a community-driven fundraising effort benefiting Lake Lotawana Parks & Recreation. The organization says its concerts, BBQ events and community support have helped raise more than $195,000 over three seasons, including fully funding the planned resurfacing of the Gate 1 tennis and pickleball courts.

That's one of my favorite things about this community: we know how to have a good time, but we're usually doing some good along the way too.

Labor Day Weekend on the Water 🚤

Of course, Labor Day also means one of the busiest weekends of the year on Lake Lotawana.

The Lake Lotawana Association published special 2026 Labor Day Holiday Lake Use Rules for the weekend, with restrictions beginning Friday evening and continuing through Labor Day.

As shown in the holiday schedule, skiing, tubing, PWC use and wake surfing had special operating periods throughout the weekend. On Labor Day itself, skiing and tubing were limited to sunrise–10:00 a.m. and noon–2:00 p.m., PWC use was 2:00–6:00 p.m., and wake surfing was not permitted. The Association also notes that Water Patrol can further restrict activities during periods of heavy traffic.

It's a good reminder that holiday weekends are a little different on Lotawana. With so many families, boats and guests enjoying the lake at the same time, knowing the holiday rules helps everyone have a fun—and safe—weekend.

This Is the Lake Lotawana Lifestyle

Labor Day always feels a little bittersweet because it signals that summer is beginning to wind down.

But at Lake Lotawana, September doesn't mean lake season is over.

Some of the best days of the year are still ahead: warm afternoons, cooler evenings, football season, quieter boat rides and plenty of reasons to get together with neighbors and friends.

And that's something that's difficult to explain until you've lived here.

Lake Lotawana isn't simply a place to own a lake house. It's a community and a lifestyle. Events like Jammy Buffet and Lotawana Live are part of what makes living here different from just owning property near the water.
